La Liga leaders Barcelona has sacked the 55-year-old Ernesto Valverde. Former Real Betis manager Quique Setien has been appointed as the Barcelona boss until June 2022.
What went wrong?
With poor start to the campaign and disappointing results, fans and the board were at unrest.
The latest being knocked out from the Super Copa de Espana in Jedha. After being 2-1 up against Atletico Madrid, Barcelona conceded two late goals in final 10 mins.
One win in the last five games and knockout from the Super Copa, it was sure Valverde’s days at Barcelona helm are over.
Valcerde was under pressure since last season Champions League semi-finals. Barcelona blew up first-leg 3-0 advantage against Liverpool to crash out.
Valverde was pictured overseeing training on Monday ahead of meeting with Barca’s board.

Valverde won back-to-back La Liga titles with Barcelona. Despite being on top of the table and still in the Champions League, Valverde was sacked by Barcelona.
Valverde took charge of 95 LaLiga games as Barce boss.

Whats next for Barcelona and Quique Setien?
Quique Setien’s Real Betis remains the last team to beat Barcelona at the Camp Nou.
A notoriosly attacking coach, he’ll be tasked to boost up the teams confidence and get the best out of the team.
His main task will be to get the team back winning ways and a style of play.
They’ll try and win the LaLiga, Copa del Rey and most importantly the Champions League.
Setien will be presented at 13:30 GMT (14:30 local time) on Tuesday before his first game agains Granada at Camp Nou on Sunday.
